EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – Pothole repairs were completed on Manhattan Avenue one day after residents reported deteriorating road conditions last month.<\/p>\n
Some repairs were made at the Manhattan Avenue and Northfield Avenue intersection at the end of March.<\/p>\n
Tigheshawn Taylor, who has lived in the neighborhood for 38 years, said the road was in the worst condition she had seen.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt makes it a little safer,\u201d one neighbor said about the repairs.<\/p>\n
Multiple neighbors said the patches were installed the day after the initial report.<\/p>\n
Taylor said the quick response made her feel like her voice was finally heard.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt makes me feel good, I just wish they could do more,\u201d Taylor said.<\/p>\n
Residents say more work needed<\/p>\n
Taylor said while the road looks better, the work in the neighborhood is not complete.<\/p>\n
She said the neighborhood has abandoned buildings, trash near the trestle, and poor road conditions on the street leading to Euclid.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have the abandos, this street is raggady as what, you know the kids play on this street, there\u2019s trash over there, there\u2019s trash up under the tressel, going up the hill, up the street to Euclid is horrible,\u201d Taylor said.<\/p>\n
Taylor, who has lived in the neighborhood for more than three decades, said she is asking for more than temporary fixes.<\/p>\n
Along Northfield Ave., abandoned homes are falling apart, and illegal dumping is rampant. On Manhattan Ave., there are patches, but the cross street is still filled with yawning holes. <\/p>\n
The city of East Cleveland was contacted about the repairs and the continued concerns from residents.<\/p>\n
