1.\u00a0Outgoing SU chancellor Syverud announces brain cancer diagnosis<\/a><\/p>\n

In a letter to the SU community Wednesday, Syverud said he was given the diagnosis after being checked out at both Crouse Hospital and the University of Michigan \u2014 the latter location being where he’s currently receiving treatment.<\/p>\n

The FBI and the Binghamton Police Department are now offering\u00a0an\u00a0additional\u00a0$50,000\u00a0for any information leading to an arrest in the murder of Aliza Spencer\u00a0nearly four\u00a0years after the child was shot and killed.<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0New York state electricity prices rank 6th highest in the nation, data says<\/a><\/p>\n

The data showed the state\u2019s average residential electricity price reached 28.4 cents per kilowatt-hour in the month of January, 11 cents higher than the national average. Prices rose 3.6% from December and were up 12% year over year, the data found.<\/p>\n

The Watertown City School District’s proposed spending plan this year comes in at $112 million, and it brings with it a 2.5% tax levy increase, the highest in 10 years.\u00a0<\/p>\n
