Gov. Kathy Hochul and her husband made a combined income of over $1.86 million last year \u2014 nearly 25% more than the $1.5 million they reported in 2024, according to a NY1 review of their tax documents.<\/p>\n
While the pair lists Buffalo, N.Y. as their primary residence, the Hochuls stated that they spent 12 months in the five boroughs \u2014 making them subject to the city\u2019s combined state and local income tax rate.<\/p>\n
They own a home in Buffalo and a vacation property in Virginia, and also rent an apartment in Manhattan.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The First Gentleman, William Hochul, made an annual salary of $1.3 million at the white shoe law firm Davis, Polk and Wardwell. He also draws a deferred payment of $102,960 from his old job at hospitality company Delaware North, and drew a pension of just over $48,000.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Hochul raked in $250,000 as the nation\u2019s highest-paid governor.<\/p>\n
The couple paid $592,000 in federal tax, $117,000 to New York state and $66,000 to the city.<\/p>\n
They donated just over $78,000 to charity, including Planned Parenthood, the Franciscan Sisters of St. Joseph, Covenant House and the City Mission of Schenectady.<\/p>\n
They also have other investments, including a trust fund set up by the governor\u2019s late mother.<\/p>\n
A spokesman for the governor said more details about their investments would be made available\u00a0on May 15\u00a0in a state ethics filing.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The couple also has investments in foreign countries, including Toronto Dominion Bank in Canada, Johnson Control International in Ireland, Ferrari MV in the Netherlands and AstraZeneca in the United Kingdom.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Hochul’s Republican gubernatorial opponent, Nassau Country Executive Bruce Blakeman, did not make his taxes available to the press on Wednesday, but spokesman Chris Boyle told NY1 he plans to release them.
