Plattekill, NY (WRGB) \u2014 On April 15, a traffic stop on I-87 in Plattekill led to the arrest of a Catskill man and the seizure of more than 350 grams of cocaine, according to New York State Police.<\/p>\n

At about 12:11 a.m. on April 15, 2026, members of the Troop F Community Stabilization Unit observed a 2023 Honda traveling northbound on I-87 in violation of multiple New York state vehicle and traffic laws. Troopers stopped the vehicle and identified the driver and sole occupant as 47-year-old Sherod Wiggins of Catskill.<\/p>\n

During the investigation, K-9 Kell was deployed and alerted positively to the odor of narcotics, State Police said. While troopers searched the vehicle, Wiggins became non-compliant and attempted to run back into his vehicle, State Police said. Troopers tried to take him into custody, but he became combative. After a brief struggle, troopers arrested him.<\/p>\n

A search of Wiggins\u2019 person revealed no contraband, State Police said. After a search of the vehicle troopers found about 352 grams of cocaine in a clear plastic bag.<\/p>\n

Wiggins was transported to State Police Highland, where he was processed without incident, State Police said.<\/p>\n

Wiggins was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the first degree, narcotic drug, 8 ounces or more, a class A-I felony; criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, intent to sell, a class B felony; obstructing governmental administration in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor; resisting arrest, a class A misdemeanor; and multiple uniform traffic tickets.<\/p>\n
