Kathy Hochul\u2019s office announced Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>The Environmental Facilities Corporation Board of Directors approved low-cost financing and state and federal grants aim to help local governments advance crucial upgrades \u2014replacing lead service lines, treating harmful emerging contaminants and modernizing aging systems.<\/p>\n<p>The purpose of the funds is to help local communities avoid costly rate increases.<\/p>\n<p>Funding was approved for projects in the following regions:<\/p>\n<p>Finger Lakes<\/p>\n<p>Town of Parma \u2013 $3.4 million in state grant and low-cost financing for the formation of Water Improvement Benefit Area No. 1, including the installation of approximately 30,000 linear feet of watermains, valves, hydrants, and appurtenances<br \/>\nTown of Sheldon \u2013 $2.6 million in state and federal grants and low-cost financing for the replacement of approximately 6,500 linear feet of watermains, hydrants, valves, and appurtenances along Route 98, Route 20A, and School Street, and the replacement of a well pump house<br \/>\nTown of Stafford \u2013 $318,000 State grant for the formation of Water District No. 14, including installation of approximately 2,500 linear feet of watermains and appurtenances including hydrants, valves, and service meters<\/p>\n<p>Mohawk Valley<\/p>\n<p>Upper Mohawk Valley Regional Water Finance Authority \u2013 federal grant, interest-free financing, and a state loan forgiveness grant for a $12.7 million project to replace 1,388 lead service lines in the city of Utica<br \/>\nTown of Vernon \u2013 $2.2 million state grant for the construction of a pump house, a 154,000-gallon elevated storage tank, and approximately 33,000 linear feet of watermains and related appurtenances to extend public water to 178 properties for the new Vernon Center Water District<\/p>\n<p>North Country<\/p>\n<p>Village of Castorland \u2013 $549,000 state grant for the construction of a 150,000-gallon storage tank, installation of system communications improvements, and installation of emergency backup power supply at the water treatment plant<br \/>\nSt. Regis Mohawk Tribe \u2013 $9.9 million state grant to replace the wastewater treatment plant<\/p>\n<p>Western New York<\/p>\n<p>Town of Friendship \u2013 $8.3 million in state grant and interest-free financing for the installation of standby power facilities for Well Nos. 4 and 5, the development of a new groundwater supply facility, and blending of water supplies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis funding means communities don\u2019t have to choose between clean water and affordable rates,\u201d Hochul said in a statement. \u201cStronger infrastructure, safer water, lower costs \u2014 that\u2019s our commitment to New Yorkers.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"New York state will use $43 million to go toward helping communities afford water and sewer infrastructure improvement&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":199632,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[8],"tags":[109,116,257,270,9,24,55,54,49,12,56,112,87,27],"class_list":{"0":"post-199631","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-new-york-city","8":"tag-app-local-state-politics","9":"tag-app-ny-state-of-politics","10":"tag-central-ny","11":"tag-luke-parsnow","12":"tag-new-york","13":"tag-new-york-city","14":"tag-new-york-city-headlines","15":"tag-new-york-city-news","16":"tag-new-york-state","17":"tag-news","18":"tag-ny","19":"tag-ny-state-of-politics","20":"tag-politics","21":"tag-top-stories"},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/199631","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=199631"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/199631\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/199632"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=199631"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=199631"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=199631"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
