NEW YORK (PIX11) \u2014 The victim of a bloody beating<\/a> at the hands of two NYPD detectives in Brooklyn is now recovering from injuries he sustained.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for the victim told PIX11 News that he suffered a broken nose, contusions and bruises in the caught-on-video incident<\/a> that took place in a Brooklyn liquor store Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n

He had to get 27 stitches in his legs and his face, according to the spokesperson.<\/p>\n

The man was punched, kicked, tackled and dragged across the floor of the liquor store by two plain-clothes NYPD detectives who attempted to arrest him<\/a> because they believed he was connected to drug sales in the area.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey dragged him in the glass. His face was swollen. His face was unrecognizable,\u201d Abelee Moran, who recorded the viral video<\/a>, said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat happened was not right, not fair,\u201d Moran said.<\/p>\n

Officials said the man \u201cmatched the description\u201d of a drug dealer\u2019s associate wearing a white shirt and green shorts. The detectives were in the area to investigate drug sale complaints and arrested one man they caught in the act before the incident, police said.<\/p>\n

The man was arrested and charged with resisting arrest and obstructing the government administration. The Brooklyn District Attorney\u2019s Office confirmed Thursday that it will not be pursuing prosecution.<\/p>\n

Both cops have been placed on modified duty with their badges and guns removed, according to NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch.<\/p>\n

Mayor Zohran Mamdani called the actions of the officers \u201cextremely disturbing and unacceptable\u201d in a\u00a0social media post<\/a>\u00a0on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

No charges have been filed against the officers, according to the Brooklyn District Attorney\u2019s Office. The NYPD Internal Affairs Bureau is reviewing the incident.<\/p>\n
