Former Spice Girl and fashion designer Victoria Beckham has addressed her estrangement from eldest son Brooklyn Peltz Beckham, saying \u201cI think that we\u2019ve always \u2014 we love our children so much.\u201d<\/p>\n
In a new interview with The Wall Street Journal\u2018s WSJ. Magazine, she did not refer to her son by name. \u201cWe\u2019ve always tried to be the best parents that we can be \u2026 And you know, we\u2019ve been in the public eye for more than 30 years right now, and all we\u2019ve ever tried to do is protect our children and love our children. And you know, that\u2019s all I really want to say about it,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
Brooklyn got married to Nicola Peltz in 2022. In January, he revealed his estranged relationship with his parents in a series of revealing and incendiary Instagram Stories. \u201cI have been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private,\u201d Brooklyn wrote. \u201cUnfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed.\u201d<\/p>\n
Brooklyn also claimed Victoria \u201chijacked\u201d his first dance with Peltz and canceled plans to design and create her wedding dress \u201cin the eleventh hour.\u201d Both his parents, David and Victoria, allegedly \u201cbribe[d] [Brooklyn] into signing away the rights to [his] name\u201d on multiple occasions. Brooklyn also made a request that his parents should only contact him through lawyers.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy wife has been consistently disrespected by my family, no matter how hard we\u2019ve tried to come together as one,\u201d Brooklyn stated. \u201cMy family values public promotion and endorsements above all else. Brand Beckham comes first.\u201d<\/p>\n
His father, retired soccer star David Beckham, broke his silence shortly after Brooklyn\u2019s posts, addressing the pros and cons of social media. \u201cI have always spoken about social media and the power of social media \u2026 I\u2019ve tried to do the same with my children, to educate them,\u201d he said on CNBC\u2019s Squawk Box. \u201cThey make mistakes, but children are allowed to make mistakes. That is how they learn \u2026 You sometimes have to let them make those mistakes as well.\u201d<\/p>\n
As of now, Brooklyn doesn\u2019t seem keen on burying the hatchet with his parents. \u201cI do not want to reconcile with my family.
