PARMA, Ohio (WOIO) \u2014 Former Brooklyn Police<\/a> Sergeant Paul Stein had his second pretrial hearing at Parma Municipal Court on Monday.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a story 19 Investigates has been following<\/a> since February.<\/p>\n

Stein is charged with one count of misdemeanor assault stemming from an incident last fall. <\/p>\n

On September 4, 2025, police arrested a Parma woman on an outstanding warrant for aggravated menacing. <\/p>\n

19 Investigates is concealing her identity since she\u2019s now considered a victim.<\/p>\n

When she arrived at the station, she was surrounded by seven officers while her hands were cuffed behind her back. <\/p>\n

They say she was being belligerent and uncooperative.<\/p>\n

Officers strapped the woman to a restraint chair. <\/p>\n

Stein can be seen pinning her shoulders back while standing on top of her feet. <\/p>\n

The woman can be heard hollering at Stein several times to get off her.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re hurting me, get off my feet,\u201d the woman yelled.<\/p>\n

When he didn\u2019t, she spit in his face. <\/p>\n

Video shows Stein quickly delivering a series of punches to her head.<\/p>\n

This past February<\/a>, the woman told 19 Investigates Stein also used his full weight to stand on top of her feet, even though she was only wearing socks at the time.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe police officer strapped me to a chair and held me down, while one large police officer crushed my feet with his boots,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Stein \u2014 who had been with the department for 18 years \u2014 was later fired. <\/p>\n

Last month, 19 Investigator Mike Mason confronted Stein outside his first hearing. <\/p>\n

Both Stein and his attorney, Dominic Vitantonio, refused to answer questions.<\/p>\n

Stein pleaded not guilty to one count of misdemeanor assault.<\/p>\n

The woman has since hired an attorney and plans to sue<\/a> both Stein and the Brooklyn Police Department. <\/p>\n

The same attorney<\/a> is also representing a man in another incident<\/a> involving Stein in April 2025.<\/p>\n

In that case, Stein is accused of assaulting the man after being involved in a motor vehicle accident on I-90 in Westlake.<\/p>\n

Stein wasn\u2019t charged<\/a> in that incident.<\/p>\n

His final pretrial hearing is set for May 11.<\/p>\n
