{"id":200308,"date":"2026-04-17T03:04:20","date_gmt":"2026-04-17T03:04:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/200308\/"},"modified":"2026-04-17T03:04:20","modified_gmt":"2026-04-17T03:04:20","slug":"ues-bakery-closes-a-month-after-opening","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/200308\/","title":{"rendered":"UES Bakery Closes A Month After Opening"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>UPPER EAST SIDE, NY \u2014 Le Fournil, the Upper East Side&#8217;s new French cafe and bakery that took over the Julien Boulangerie space at the end of February, has closed, its owners said. <\/p>\n<p>In a heartfelt Instagram story post on Wednesday night, the owners confirmed the abrupt closure of the bakery at 1247 Third Ave., near East 72nd Street, as well as their new Park Slope location.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There\u2019s no easy way to say this, but due to circumstances outside of our control, both of our *new* locations (Upper East Side &amp; Park Slope) have been closed,&#8221; the husband and wife duo, Jean-Francois and Elizabeth Hebert, wrote. &#8220;While this chapter didn\u2019t unfold as we had hoped, we\u2019re incredibly grateful for the overwhelming outpouring of support we received during this time.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Le Fournil opened on the Upper East Side on Feb. 28. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"26929305-1776354844\" data-image=\"26929305-1776354844\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/instagrab.png\" data- \/><\/p>\n<p>Though the team is closing the space on the Upper East Side, Le Fournil will continue to operate at its original East Village space, at 115 2nd Ave. near East 7th Street, which has been going strong for more than six years. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The kind messages of encouragement and excitement for our new project as well as the visits from customers old and new have meant more to us than we can ever fully express,&#8221; the owners wrote.<\/p>\n<p>No word yet on what will move into the space. <\/p>\n<p>Know of a business opening or closing on the Upper East Side?
