Victoria Beckham, asked about being estranged from eldest son Brooklyn Beckham<\/a>, said she and her husband, David Beckham, have \u201calways tried to be the best parents we can be.\u201d<\/p>\n In an interview with The Wall Street Journal <\/a>published Thursday in which she discussed her career pivots and getting out of debt, she touched on her children.<\/p>\n Beckham, the fashion designer and former Spice Girl, talked about how she had Brooklyn Beckham when she was 24 years old, roughly two years after she began dating David Beckham.<\/p>\n Their eldest son said in a scathing Instagram post in January that he no longer wanted to associate with his family.<\/p>\n \u201cI have been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private,\u201d he wrote, adding that his parents left him with \u201cno choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI do not want to reconcile with my family,\u201d he continued. \u201cI\u2019m not being controlled. I\u2019m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.\u201d<\/p>\n Brooklyn also alleged that his family promoted \u201ccountless lies in the media … to preserve their own facade.\u201d He additionally claimed that his parents tried to \u201cendlessly ruin\u201d his relationship with Nicola Peltz, the 31-year-old actor and model, whom he married in 2022.<\/p>\n He added that at his wedding, his mother tried to \u201chijack\u201d his first dance with Peltz, writing that she danced \u201cvery inappropriately\u201d with him in front of guests. He said he \u201cnever felt more uncomfortable or humiliated\u201d in his life.<\/p>\n Asked about her son in the interview published Thursday, Victoria Beckham said she and her husband have always \u201cloved\u201d their children \u201cso much.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019ve always tried to be the best parents that we can be. And you know, we\u2019ve been in the public eye for more than 30 years right now, and all we\u2019ve ever tried to do is protect our children and love our children. And you know, that\u2019s all I really want to say about it,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n She did not mention Brooklyn Beckham by name.<\/p>\n David and Victoria Beckham have four children: sons Brooklyn; Romeo, 23; and Cruz, 21; and daughter Harper, 14.<\/p>\n In October, the New York Post reported <\/a>that Brooklyn Beckham was absent from the premiere of his mother\u2019s documentary, \u201cVictoria Beckham,\u201d and The Wall Street Journal<\/a> noted that he also did not attend his mother\u2019s Paris Fashion Week show in March, even though his father and siblings were there.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"David and Victoria Beckham with their eldest son, Brooklyn, and his wife, Nicola Peltz, in 2023.
