A star-studded cast will lead the Off-Broadway premiere of new musical\u00a0A Walk on the Moon, adapted from the 1999 film of the same name,\u00a0this summer, playing The Laura Pels Theatre at the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre June 15-August 22. An official opening night is set for June 29.<\/p>\n
Tony Award nominee Sheryl Kaller<\/a> will direct the new musical\u2014adapted from the 1999 film of the same name\u2014with a\u00a0book and additional lyrics by original screenwriter Pamela Gray, music and lyrics by AnnMarie Milazzo<\/a>.\u00a0Josh Prince<\/a> will choreograph.<\/p>\n Set in the summer of 1969, the work follows\u00a0Pearl Kantrowitz, a Brooklyn mother and housewife, as she\u00a0takes the annual trip north to a Catskills\u00a0bungalow colony just as the world begins to shift beneath her feet.\u00a0As the countercultural revolution begins and music starts to change the world, Pearl awakens to a life beyond\u00a0the one she’s always known. The original film starred Diane Lane<\/a> and Viggo Mortensen.<\/p>\n The stage musical will star\u00a0Talia Suskauer<\/a> as Pearl, Max Chernin<\/a> as Marty, Sam Gravitte<\/a> as Walker, Andr\u00e9a Burns<\/a> as Lillian,\u00a0Sophie\u00a0Pollono as Alison, and Oscar Williams<\/a> as Ross. They will be joined by\u00a0Andrew Faria as Irv,\u00a0David R. Gordon as Neil,\u00a0Megan Kane<\/a> as Bunny,\u00a0Caroline Pernick as\u00a0Eleanor,\u00a0Becca\u00a0Suskauer as Rhoda, and Michael Tacconi<\/a> as Stan.\u00a0Leo Caravano and Reid Gardner Clarke will alternate as Danny.\u00a0Understudies Tucker Gold,\u00a0Ellie Schwartz, Richard Spitaletta, and Jodi Bluestein will round out the company. Casting is by the TRC Company’s Merri Sugarman<\/a>.<\/p>\n The production will\u00a0feature sets and\u00a0projections by Tal Yarden<\/a>, costumes by Ricky Lurie<\/a>, lighting by Robert Wierzel<\/a>, sound by Justin Stasiw<\/a>, music direction by Jillian Zack<\/a>, and music supervision and arrangements by Andy\u00a0Einhorn. The creative team also includes\u00a0associate director Rosie Glen-Lambert, associate choreographer Ali Solomon, associate scenic designer Lily Tomasic<\/a>, associate projection designer Andrew Gusciora, associate costume designer Natalie Loveland<\/a>, associate lighting designer Eric\u00a0Norbury, script associate Kayla Brooke, and company manager Zhiwei Ma<\/a>.
