WAPPINGER \u2014 A New York State Police investigator assigned to the Bureau of Criminal Investigation in New York City was arrested Thursday night following a reported domestic dispute at a residence in the Dutchess County town of Wappinger, authorities said.<\/p>\n
State Police said troopers from the Wappinger barracks responded to the home at about 10:24 p.m. on Thursday after receiving a report of a domestic incident. The victim told police they were struck and prevented from calling 911 by the investigator, according to police.<\/p>\n
The investigator was taken into custody and charged with third-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal mischief. The Times Union is not identifying him because both charges are misdemeanors.<\/p>\n
He was arraigned in Wappinger Town Court and released on his own recognizance. A temporary order of protection was issued on behalf of the victim.<\/p>\n
