New York Gov. Kathy Hochul on Thursday announced a new state measure aimed to help lower energy bills for upstate residents.<\/p>\n
Known as the AMP Up program, it will set aside $125 million to upgrade affordable multi-family housing.<\/p>\n
Administered by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), the program will offer building owners incentives for energy efficient upgrades, electrification projects and climate resiliency improvements.<\/p>\n
Eligible projects range from basic upgrades like insulation, air sealing and energy-efficient appliances to major work such as window replacements, heating system overhauls and full building modernizations.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Officials say the upgrades will lower utility bills for tenants, improve living conditions and help buildings better withstand extreme heat and flooding.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
