STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. \u2014 Police are searching for a person who carried out back-to-back convenience store robberies early Wednesday morning. <\/p>\n
Around 12:05 a.m., police received a 911 call from a victim who said that an unknown individual entered a business located at 171 Broad St. in Stapleton.<\/p>\n
A 24-hour convenience store is located at the address provided by police.<\/p>\n
The individual \u201csimulated a firearm,\u201d according to an NYPD spokesperson, and removed an unknown amount of money from the cash register before fleeing.<\/p>\n
The individual then traveled roughly one mile away to 353 Victory Blvd. in Tompkinsville, the location of another convenience store, according to police.<\/p>\n
The unknown individual entered the store around 1:30 a.m. and again simulated having a firearm and removed more money from the cash register, according to the spokesperson. <\/p>\n
The individual then fled on foot on Victory Boulevard, heading toward Forest Avenue, to parts unknown, police say.<\/p>\n
There were no injuries reported in either robbery, and the spokesperson was not able to say how much money was stolen.<\/p>\n
Police described a person of interest in both robberies as a male, who was last seen wearing a gray and black hooded sweatshirt with black glasses and carrying a black backpack.<\/p>\n
