Kelsea Ballerini<\/a> opened up about her new chapter \u2014 including her single life \u2014 in New York City.<\/p>\n

Ballerini, 32, joined Jenna Bush Hager and Sheinelle Jones on TODAY with Jenna & Sheinelle<\/a> on Friday morning (April 17). The country superstar spoke with the TODAY hosts about her temporary move to the city from Nashville, Tennessee, her single life, working on new music, opening up about wanting to be a mother in \u201cI Sit in Parks,\u201d a new competition for musicians and more.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m in love with it here,\u201d Ballerini beamed when asked about her move to NYC. She\u2019ll live there \u201cthrough the summer for now,\u201d she said. \u201cI want to make my next record up here. But down the road, I don\u2019t know. I really am loving it. It\u2019s just such an alive place. It\u2019s so creative. …I\u2019m loving this chapter of life just because I really feel like I\u2019m being really intentional about connecting to myself,\u201d she added later of her current chapter, including being single. \u201cAlso, being off the road right now, this is my first time not touring in a while, and being somewhere new and making new friends. I just haven\u2019t had the time to invest in myself like that for a while.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ballerini went on to open up about a three-day intensive therapy program to delve into people-pleasing patterns and the understanding she gained in the process. The singer-songwriter said, \u201cI don\u2019t want to give anyone else the power to tell me how I should feel about myself, or my choices, or the life I choose to lead.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ballerini most recently dated\u00a0<\/a>Outer Banks\u00a0<\/a>star\u00a0<\/a>Chase Stokes<\/a>. Though rumors recently spread that she was dating <\/a>Southern Charm<\/a> star <\/a>Craig Conover<\/a>,\u00a0unnamed \u201csources with direct knowledge\u201d told\u00a0TMZ<\/a>\u00a0earlier this week that those rumors are not true.<\/p>\n

Ballerini revealed she moved to New York City<\/a> when she took the stage at Carnegie Hall last month, during the Evening with the Grand Ole Opry\u00a0show. She shared with the audience at the time, \u201cI just moved here. Ever since I was a little kid and I got to come here for the first time I always promised myself that I would do a season or a chapter of life in the city and that season and chapter is right now. I don\u2019t know how long that\u2019s gonna last, but I\u2019m really loving it.\u201d She added later, \u201cyou can take the girl out of Nashville, but you can\u2019t take the Nashville out of the girl.\u201d<\/p>\n
