Rochester, N.Y. \u2014 A 7-year-old girl and a 31-year-old woman were attacked by a dog Friday in the 19th Ward, according to the Rochester Police Department.<\/p>\n
Police said the victims were walking on a sidewalk along Depew Street shortly before 3:30 p.m. when the dog “advanced and bit them repeatedly.” <\/p>\n
The adult female was able to pull the child away from the dog while taking additional bites herself until the dog disengaged.<\/p>\n
The victims were taken to Strong Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police. The girl had bites to the upper and lower body, while the woman had bites to her arms. No other injuries were reported.<\/p>\n
Police said the owner turned the dog over to animal control.
