Nearly $4 million will be allocated for major improvements in women\u2019s health, pediatrics and patient spaces.<\/p>\n
Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso<\/a>\u00a0on Wednesday presented\u00a0$3.85 million in capital funding toward upgrades at NYC Health + Hospitals\/Gotham Health centers<\/a> across the borough, with a focus on improving patient care spaces and expanding essential services in underserved communities.<\/p>\n The largest share of the funding will go to Gotham Health\u2019s East New York location, which will receive $1.75 million for renovations\u00a0of its women\u2019s health and pediatrics unit.<\/p>\n The overhaul will introduce a dedicated lactation room, a new staff break area\u00a0and integrated Women, Infants and Children (WIC) services, aiming to better support mothers, children\u00a0and families who rely on the site for care.<\/p>\n \u201cEvery Brooklynite deserves access to world-class healthcare but there is so much work to be done to overcome decades of inequities and disinvestment,\u201d said Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso.<\/p>\n Additional investments at East New York include $650,000 to expand optometry services through the construction of new exam rooms, along with $300,000 to\u00a0upgrade the facility\u2019s heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system.<\/p>\n Two other Brooklyn sites will also see targeted improvements. At Gotham Health\u2019s Cumberland center, $250,000 is allocated to replace outdated dental imaging equipment, while $150,000 will fund renovations to modernize eye care rooms.<\/p>\n In Brownsville, $750,000 will go toward upgrading the clinic\u2019s HVAC system to improve climate control, particularly on the first floor where patient volume is high.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are deeply grateful to Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso for his generous support.
