{"id":20207,"date":"2025-10-28T19:01:07","date_gmt":"2025-10-28T19:01:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/20207\/"},"modified":"2025-10-28T19:01:07","modified_gmt":"2025-10-28T19:01:07","slug":"unhinged-thief-caught-torching-laundry-in-bizarre-burglary-charged-as-nyc-serial-slasher-cops","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/20207\/","title":{"rendered":"Unhinged thief caught torching laundry in bizarre burglary charged as NYC serial slasher: cops"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The unhinged man busted in <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/10\/27\/us-news\/nyc-crook-who-set-laundry-on-fire-in-bizarre-burglary-now-tied-to-series-of-random-slashings-sources\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a bizarre Brooklyn burglary<\/a> where he ended up torching someone\u2019s laundry was accused in an unsettling series of unprovoked slashings, cops said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Odyssey Head, 27, was arrested Monday in connection to the string of senseless attacks on strangers that began Saturday morning and ended more than 24 hours later, police said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In the first attack around 6:30 a.m. Saturday, Head allegedly slashed a 37-year-old man on the left side of his face on board a northbound Q train approaching Cortelyou Road, authorities said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Odyssey Head, 27, was charged with attempted murder in connection to the weekend random slashing spree targeting three men in Brooklyn, cops said.  NYPD<\/p>\n<p>Several hours passed before he targeted his next victim \u2013 a 53-year-old man who he allegedly cut on the left side of his face at the intersection of Foster Avenue and New York Avenue around 9:40 p.m., police said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Then the next morning just before 7 a.m., Head allegedly cut a 56-year-old man on New York Avenue near Newkirk Avenue, causing a similar injury, authorities said.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Before the series of slashings, Head allegedly began his criminal spree around 5 a.m. Saturday, cops said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Head was also charged with allegedly slashing a customer at a Burlington Coat Factory last month, police said.  NYPD<\/p>\n<p>In that incident, he allegedly barged into a residential building on New York Avenue near Avenue D and damaged the plumbing pipe and electrical wires of a basement washing machine, cops and sources said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He lit some clothes of fire in the washer and dryer before fleeing, police said.<\/p>\n<p>No one was home at the time, and Head \u2013 who lives in Sheepshead Bay several miles away \u2013 has no relationship to that address, the sources said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Head is also accused of allegedly intruding into a Brooklyn building and setting some clothes on fire inside a washer and dryer, cops said.  NYPD<\/p>\n<p>The NYPD also linked Head to a random slashing from around 12:50 p.m. Sept. 14 inside a Burlington Coat Factory on Tilden Avenue near Flatbush Avenue, authorities said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In that attack, he allegedly cut a 30-year-old male customer on the back of the neck with an unknown object, police said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The victim was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Head has four prior arrests, the most recent for a Brooklyn robbery more than a decade ago, police said.
