Police have released an image of the gunman who shot a 20-year-old woman in the throat<\/a> outside a Staten Island Target store, officials said Saturday.<\/p>\n

Detectives are asking the public\u2019s help in their search for the gunman<\/a>, who was wearing a black motorcycle helmet and sped off on a moped following the 7:30 a.m. shooting outside the store on Richmond Ave. near Forest Hill Road in New Springville, just down the road from the\u00a0Staten Island Mall.<\/a><\/p>\n

Investigators believe the shooter is an estranged boyfriend of the victim, who works at the Target and was arriving for her shift when she was shot, according to police sources with knowledge of the case.<\/p>\n

She was conscious and alert when first responders arrived. EMS rushed her to Staten Island University Hospital North Campus<\/a>, where she\u2019s expected to survive.<\/p>\n

The woman was about to enter the store through a side entrance when the gunman rolled up on his moped, cops said.<\/p>\n

He pulled a gun and fired off one shot, hitting his victim in the neck, before speeding off.<\/p>\n

The shooter was last seen heading south on Richmond Ave, cops said. No arrests were immediately made.<\/p>\n

There have been no homicides in Staten Island this year, but there have been four shootings as of Sunday \u2014 one more than this time last year, according to NYPD statistics<\/a>.<\/p>\n
