All eight \u2014 five girls and three boys \u2014 were killed by 31-year-old Shamar Elkins, when he <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/04\/19\/us-news\/8-kids-ages-1-to-14-killed-in-mass-shootings-across-shreveport-louisiana\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">went on a rampage through Shreveport<\/a> following an argument with his wife around 6 a.m. Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Jayla Elkins, 3; Shayla Elkins, 5; Kayla Pugh, 6; Layla Pugh, 7; Markaydon Pugh, 10; Sariahh Snow, 11; Khedarrion Snow, 6; and Braylon Snow, 5 were all found dead inside their home in Shreveport.<\/p>\n<p>Army veteran Shamar Elkins with his eight young children, seven of whom he gunned down in Shreveport, Louisiana, on April 19, 2026. Facebook\/Shamar Elkins<\/p>\n<p>Elkins fathered seven of the children and was an uncle to the eighth victim, according to local officials. It\u2019s unclear which was the cousin among the eight dead.<\/p>\n<p>Shreveport Police Department spokesman Christopher Bordelon<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/us-news\/louisiana-shreveport-mass-shooting-rcna340868\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\"> told NBC News<\/a> that most of the victims were shot in the head while they slept.<\/p>\n<p>One of the children was killed on the roof while trying to escape, police said.<\/p>\n<p>Elkins, who was later killed by police, also shot and wounded two women during his murderous rage.<\/p>\n<p>This is a developing story.
