Maman, the Martha Stewart-approved New York City bakery, is turning its focus to Dallas<\/a> amid a nationwide expansion, co-founder Elisa Marshall told The Dallas Morning News in mid-April 2026.<\/p>\n

A former wedding planner turned restaurateur, Marshall values Maman\u2019s blue-and-white French farmhouse design as much as she does the taste of its croissants, quiche and coffee.<\/p>\n

Dallas customers match those values, she said. The company is concentrating on North Texas, with a plan to open about\u00a010 shops in D-FW in the next three years.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel like our Dallas customer has such an appreciation for design, aesthetic, entertaining, beautiful things, thoughtfulness and detail,\u201d Marshall said. \u201cIt\u2019s a refined customer who has an appreciation for what we do.\u201d<\/p>\n

Maman\u2019s first shop in Texas opened in University Park<\/a>, at Preston Road and Northwest Highway, in late 2025. Lines wrapped around the block.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s kind of Maman\u2019s thing: Lines of customers formed at Maman in New York during its first year open, in 2014, as word spread that the bakery\u2019s Nutty Chocolate Chip Cookie might be the best in the city. The company has been featured by The New York Times, in Oprah\u2019s Favorite Things and by Martha Stewart \u2014 who put her name on several menu items, including a rather good chicken salad sandwich available at the University Park shop.<\/p>\n

Maman has more than 20 shops in New York City, over a dozen each in Washington D.C and in southern Florida, and two in Canada.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe next major market is Dallas,\u201d Marshall said.<\/p>\n

Where Maman will open in Dallas-Fort Worth<\/p>\n

University Park: Texas\u2019 first shop is already open at 4004 Villanova St., Dallas.<\/p>\n

Lakewood: The second in Texas will be at Mockingbird Lane and Abrams Road, in the former Palmer\u2019s Hot Chicken<\/a>. Look for Maman at 6465 E. Mockingbird Lane, Dallas, opening April 23, 2026.<\/p>\n

Casa Linda in East Dallas: Then, Maman expects to open at 1152 N. Buckner Blvd., in a renovated Schlotzsky’s, in July 2026.<\/p>\n

East Dallas, near Uptown: On the edge of Old East Dallas, near Central Expressway, Maman plans to open at 2752 N. Haskell Ave. in September or October 2026. Remember the Leaning Tower of Dallas<\/a>? That site has since been scraped, and Maman will be part of the new development in its place<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Design District: Maman will join The Seam, a redo of a 1970s complex at 1444 Oak Lawn Ave., with a projected opening in late 2026. Maman is the third food-and-beverage concept The News has reported at The Seam so far, following news that Mediterranean restaurant Aba<\/a> and cocktail lounge Lumis<\/a> are coming soon.<\/p>\n

West\u00a0Plano: Maman\u2019s first shop in the Dallas suburbs is expected at Plano\u2019s Shops at Legacy East, at 7200 Bishop Road, in late 2026.<\/p>\n

Maman\u2019s expansion plan<\/p>\n

The company was never going to enter Dallas in a small way.<\/p>\n

Maman\u2019s strategy in Dallas-Fort Worth is to open a handful of stores because of its scratch kitchen business model. Bakery items like cookie dough are made at a commissary kitchen, or an off-site facility focused on food production. Workers at the regional commissary kitchens deliver to local stores every day.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you have a cookie at the Preston store and a cookie in Lakewood, they\u2019re going to taste like the same cookie,\u201d Marshall said.<\/p>\n

The shop sells a pastry case full of sweet and savory items like a pistachio-chocolate croissant, cheddar-scallion scone, brisket croissant roll and a Martha Stewart-labeled milk chocolate cr\u00e8me\u00a0br\u00fbl\u00e9e sugar bun.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe kitchen in our first Dallas location is very tiny,\u201d the co-founder said. \u201cWe would never be able to do that if we didn\u2019t have the commissary model.\u201d<\/p>\n

Consumers looking to visit Maman should consider waiting for North Texas\u2019 second location, opening any day now near Dallas’ Lakewood neighborhood. The shop\u2019s atrium \u2014 the covered patio where kids used to play yard games when this was a chicken restaurant \u2014 is now a green space with flowers.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo me, it\u2019s a better representation of our lifestyle brand,\u201d the co-founder said.<\/p>\n

And, it\u2019s a sneak peek of what other Dallas-area\u00a0Mamans might look like.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ll update this story if Maman announces other locations opening in Dallas-Fort Worth.<\/p>\n
