NEW YORK (PIX11) \u2014 Frigid overnight temperatures are making a brief return, prompting New York City officials to declare a Code Blue.<\/p>\n
The Code Blue will be in effect from 4 p.m. on Monday to 8 a.m. on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
Discover more local reporting on our homepage <\/a><\/p>\n Temperatures are expected to drop into the low 30s, accompanied by wind chills near 25 degrees.<\/p>\n City outreach teams will visit people living on the streets and in the subway system and encourage them to visit a Department of Homeless Services shelter or a drop-in center.<\/p>\n Anyone in need of shelter can stay at a shelter or drop-in center without going through the normal intake process.<\/p>\n If you see a homeless person out in the cold or someone in need of shelter, you can call 311, and an outreach team will be sent to the location.<\/p>\n Ben Mitchell is a digital content producer from Vermont who has covered both local and international news since 2021.
