timeline on the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA)<\/a>. <\/p>\n\u201cI\u2019ve been hoping we\u2019d be done since April 1st,\u201d Hochul said Monday at a press conference in Buffalo. \u201cBut also, I\u2019m not walking back from, I believe, the priorities that New Yorkers deserve to have. The majority of them focused on affordability.\u201d<\/p>\n
Assemblyman Joe Angelino (R-121st district) said the legislature is expected to pass a fifth deadline extension on Monday, keeping the government open until Wednesday. <\/p>\n
\u201cThey\u2019re arguing, I am told, over policy issues. And that is the holdup,\u201d Angelino said. \u201cIt\u2019s a lot easier to slip a policy issue into the budget than to have a standalone bill be scrutinized and debated on the floor.\u201d<\/p>\n
Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo echoed Angelino\u2019s claims, also stating the holdup is over policy differences. In a statement provided to 12 News on Monday, Assemblywoman Lupardo said:<\/p>\n
\u201cThis year\u2019s state budget is being held up by disagreements over several important policy issues. Unfortunately, we haven\u2019t even gotten to the money part of the budget, which for many of us is the heart of the matter. The Governor sees this is an opportunity to accomplish policy goals that might be more difficult outside the budget process. We continue to negotiate in good faith hoping these matters are resolved soon.\u201d<\/p>\n
