The King<\/a> has kicked off a series of events to celebrate his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II<\/a>, by visiting a landmark exhibition in her honour. Charles, 77, was joined by his wife, Queen Camilla, 78, and the late Princess Margaret’s daughter, Lady Sarah Chatto, to visit Queen Elizabeth II: Her Life in Style at the King’s Gallery in Buckingham Palace, an exhibition by the Royal Collection Trust.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It is the first in a series of events celebrating what would have been the late monarch’s 100th birthday, showcasing all that she achieved throughout her landmark 70-year reign. Charles wore a pinstriped suit for the occasion, while Camilla looked sophisticated in a matching blue dress and black heels.\u00a0<\/p>\n

During their tour, Their Majesties learnt about the exhibition from staff and were joined by contemporary fashion designers, including Erdem Moral\u0131o\u011flu, who shared their pieces. They also met King’s Foundation students from the Chanel and le19M Metiers d\u2019Art Embroidery, Millinery and Atelier Fellowship programmes.<\/p>\n

Charles was supported by his cousin, Lady Sarah Chatto, during his visit on Monday evening. The royals shared a warm greeting at the exhibition.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Sarah looked stylish for the occasion in a black dress.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Sarah greeted the royal with a hug.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The royal couple were also joined for the exhibition by Dame Sarah Troughton and Tim Knox, director of the Royal Collection Trust. The late Queen’s former ladies in waiting, Lady Sarah Hussey and Dame Annabelle Whitehead, had also apparently been invited.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Charles looked back on one of his late mother’s most memorable looks \u2013 the dress she wore for the Opening Ceremony at the London 2012 Olympic Games.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The late Queen wore a peach embroidered dress designed by Angela Kelly.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Charles and Camilla walked through the exhibition, which looks back on the late Queen’s sophisticated style moments.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The late monarch embraced colour in her wardrobe, as shown through a wall of dresses in all different hues of pink in the exhibition.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The garment had a touch of embellishment at the front for a glitzy finish.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The late royal wore a plethora of stylish hats throughout her reign, which are showcased in the new style exhibit.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Charles was joined by the exhibition curator and Surveyor of The King’s Works of Art, Caroline de Guitaut.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Some of the late Queen’s most splendid gowns have been showcased for the public to see to mark what would have been her milestone 100th birthday this year.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Included in the exhibition is the royal’s intricate gown she wore for her wedding to Prince Philip at Westminster Abbey on 20 November, 1947.<\/p>\n

The royal’s coronation gown is also on display.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The King had a smile on his face as he looked back on his late mother’s memorable style moments throughout her reign.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The royal was immersed in the exhibition which has showcased over 300 items from across the late Queen’s life.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“Every time she wore something, people would copy it,” Caroline told HELLO!<\/a> in an exclusive interview last month.<\/p>\n

She also said of the late Queen’s fashion: “When carrying out duties, she didn\u2019t want to worry about her clothes, so extra pockets or bows or embellishments were just going to get in the way. Extra things had to be avoided at all costs.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

Camilla supported her husband for the poignant visit and stood by his side throughout the evening.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The royal couple left together and were greeted by crowds outside after their visit. Tuesday will mark what would have been the late Queen’s milestone 100th birthday.\u00a0<\/p>\n

A royal first<\/p>\n

The Life in Style exhibition is the largest and most comprehensive presentation of the late Queen\u2019s fashion ever mounted. It is on display to the public until 18 October. Items on display include Queen Elizabeth II\u2019s christening robe, bridesmaid dresses, her wedding dress from her nuptials to Prince Philip in 1947 and the dress she wore at her 1952 coronation.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Caroline de Guitaut, who curated the exhibition, told HELLO! in an exclusive interview last month that the exhibition shows the late Queen as an admirer of fine couture and a trendsetter who influenced fashion houses, including Gucci.\u00a0<\/p>\n

She said: “One of the things that has been written about the Queen in the past is that she wasn\u2019t interested in fashion.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“The media compared her with her younger sister [Princess Margaret], who went to Paris couturiers, whereas the Queen was supporting the best of British. [Her style] was elegant, restrained and appropriate but something she made recognisable.
