\u2018I don\u2019t use it as a residence,\u2019 says multi-millionaire businessman Bert E Brodsky<\/a> of his Manhattan penthouse: \u2018I use it more for showering and meeting people.\u2019<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a pretty baller statement. The sort of statement that wouldn\u2019t feel at all out of place in The Wolf of Wall Street. Which is probably why it made for the perfect setting for the Oscar-winning movie, where it starred as Jordan Belfort\u2019s (Leonardo DiCaprio) New York home.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Described in the source-book as \u2018our tiny Manhattan love nest\u2019 \u2013 ironic for its 2,700 sqft penthouse setting \u2013 the apartment was also the base of one of the film\u2019s most shocking scenes. Assuming that both Belfort and \u2018the Duchess\u2019 (Margot Robbie) were away, their gay butler holds an \u2018adult party\u2019 (to put it politely) in the home. Duchess, who was in fact not away, is shocked to discover the scene. And when Belfort returns to discover $50,000 in\u00a0 cash missing, his friends and colleagues Chester Ming and Alden \u2018Sea Otter\u2019 Kupferberg brutally interrogate the butler, beating him up and dangling him over the balcony of this very same penthouse in an attempt to force out information.<\/p>\n

For a less violent claim to fame, the penthouse also starred in The Good Wife and Blue Bloods, while the building\u2019s exterior served as Serena Van der Woodsen\u2019s family penthouse in beloved teen drama Gossip Girl<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Owned by the aforementioned businessman Bert E Brodsky, the 83-year-old medical entrepreneur is said to have made his money from venture capital in the early 2000s and is now the chairman of eponymous real estate firm BEB Company. He bought the apartment in The Milan Condominium for $4.5 million in 2005 while the building was still under construction, but his primary home is in Port Washington, New York.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Since he didn\u2019t live at the apartment full-time, Brodsky explains that he was able to rent it out for shoots such as The Wolf Of Wall Street. \u2018When they did that I was at my beach house,\u2019 he says. He did end up meeting director Martin Scorsese, DiCaprio and Robbie when he stopped in once to (you guessed it) shower before a meeting.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Despite now moving on, and spending very little time there during his ownership, Brodsky said: \u2018I love the apartment. It\u2019s a great place to meet. I enjoyed being there.\u2019 The property first came to market in 2024 for an asking price of $6.95 million but was removed in December 2025 after the price had been reduced several times to $4.95 million.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Perched on the 32nd floor of The Milan Condominium at 300 East 55th Street in Midtown East, the corner apartment spans 2,700 sqft, with three bedrooms, floor-to-ceiling windows and two terraces \u2013 including the site of the infamous dangling scene \u2013 which offer views across the city skyline and East River.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u2018It has such a large living room, two seating areas and a large dining room and a terrace off of both ends,\u2019 says Compass listing agent Boris Fabrikant. \u2018It\u2019s so big, you can have different moments.\u2019 The primary suite is situated at the corner, with floor-to-ceiling glass on both walls. \u2018It has two walk-in closets, two additional closets and its own fireplace,\u2019 Fabrikant adds. \u2018It\u2019s built on a grand scale.\u2019<\/p>\n

Residents of The Milan Condominium also gain access to the 24-hour doorman and concierge services, a gym, residents\u2019 lounge, bike room, and a zen garden designed by renowned architect Ken Smith.\u00a0<\/p>\n
