As the royal family commemorates the 100th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth\u2019s birth, Princess Anne carried out a particularly meaningful engagement. The Princess Royal, the queen\u2019s only daughter, officially opened the Queen Elizabeth II Garden<\/a>, a new two\u2011acre garden in Regent\u2019s Park in London.<\/p>\n

For the occasion, she chose a burnt orange coat and a printed red scarf. She pinned a floral spray brooch to her jacket; the jewel is in her personal collection, and she wears it frequently over the decades.<\/p>\n

Her coat, like many of Anne\u2019s outfits<\/a>, was a repeat. She\u2019s worn it frequently through the years, including in 2012 for a day of horse races and in 2016 for Easter Sunday.<\/p>\n

The garden, created by the Royal Parks in collaboration with HTA Design, commemorates the life and service of Queen Elizabeth II. Per the Royal Parks<\/a>, the garden was designed with Queen Elizabeth in mind. \u201cThe straight path that runs through the garden will represent the late Queen\u2019s unwavering loyalty and service with each end offering a moment of quiet reflection.\u201d<\/p>\n

It will open to the public next week, on April 27, and among its features include \u201ca wildlife\u2011supporting circular pond, a flower garden planted with species significant to Her late Majesty, and a viewing platform offering panoramic views across The Regent\u2019s Park,\u201d according to Buckingham Palace. The garden focuses on sustainable horticulture and was designed with \u201cclimate\u2011resilient planting.\u201d<\/p>\n

Upon her arrival at the new garden, Princess Anne met with Dr. Linda Yueh, chair of The Royal Parks, and representatives from the Queen Elizabeth II Garden Project. She also met blacksmith Ian Thackray, who presented the princess with a gilded metal flower crafted for the garden.<\/p>\n
