{"id":205223,"date":"2026-04-21T21:10:09","date_gmt":"2026-04-21T21:10:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/205223\/"},"modified":"2026-04-21T21:10:09","modified_gmt":"2026-04-21T21:10:09","slug":"new-york-lawmakers-intro-bills-to-limit-surveillance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/205223\/","title":{"rendered":"New York lawmakers intro bills to limit surveillance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>STATEWIDE \u2014 TWO NEW YORK STATE lawmakers have introduced complementary bills to tighten restrictions on tracking by Automatic License Plate Readers after reports of authorities misusing the technology to hunt down immigrants and\u00a0 other <a href=\"https:\/\/gothamist.com\/news\/albany-mulls-new-limits-on-data-from-digital-license-plate-readers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">invasive surveillance<\/a> purposes \u2014 such as monitoring people who attend political protests \u2014 Gothamist reports.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Legislation has been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nysenate.gov\/legislation\/bills\/2025\/S9890\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">introduced<\/a> by Upstate Sen.
