CO-OP CITY, Bronx (WABC) — A woman was killed after a driver lost control and crashed into people sitting on a bench in the Bronx on Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n

It happened at Bartow Avenue and Co-Op City Boulevard around 1:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

It appears the 55-year-old driver had a medical episode and lost control of his vehicle, a red 2018 Mazda CX, when it crashed into two people on a bench.<\/p>\n

A 72-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n

A 36-year-old man suffered minor injuries and was conscious and alert. He was taken to Jacobi Hospital in stable condition.<\/p>\n

It appears the driver remained on the scene. Police say he is in stable condition.<\/p>\n

So far no arrests have been made.<\/p>\n

The NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad (CIS) is now investigating the crash.<\/p>\n
