NEW YORK \u2014 Two people were killed and 11 hurt when a massive fire tore through a Bronx apartment building<\/a> on Tuesday, officials said.<\/p>\n

The fatal blaze, on E. 187th St. near Belmont Ave. in Belmont , began around 1:30 p.m. and quickly spread to multiple floors at the top of the five-story building, FDNY officials<\/a> said.<\/p>\n

Video of firefighters fighting the inferno saw massive flames shooting out of the top windows onto the roof\u2019s parapet.<\/p>\n

The massive blaze quickly led to a fifth alarm, bringing more than 200 firefighters, emergency medical technicians and paramedics to the scene.<\/p>\n

Eleven people, including five firefighters, were injured and treated. It was not immediately clear how many were hospitalized.<\/p>\n

The fire remained ongoing as of 3:45 p.m.<\/p>\n

Its cause was under investigation.<\/p>\n
