<\/p>\n Philadelphia, PA \u2013 La Salle scored the first nine runs of the game and never looked back in a 14-4 10-run rule victory over Manhattan Tuesday afternoon at Hank DeVincent Field.<\/p>\n Nico Amecangelo<\/a> hit a pinch-hit walk-off two-run single to enact the 10-run rule in the bottom of the eighth, caping off an 11-hit day for the Explorers offense, which scored three runs in the first, second, fifth, and seventh innings, and two in the eighth.<\/p>\n Carter Groen<\/a> and Alec Welshans<\/a> hit back-to-back home runs on consecutive pitches in the second to help power the offense. Groen’s \u2013 a two-run shot \u2013 helped him extend his Atlantic 10 Conference lead in the RBI category, now with 60. Welshans’ homer was his team-best 14th of the year, which now sits just one off the A-10 leading mark.<\/p>\n Ahead of Groen and Welshans in the batting order, Chase Swain<\/a> scored three runs from the leadoff spot and Justin Szestowicki<\/a> went 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI to set the table at the top of the lineup.<\/p>\n The Explorers got on the board by batting around in the first and scoring three. Swain scored on a passed ball, Welshans delivered an RBI single, and Jayden Novak<\/a> worked a bases-loaded walk.<\/p>\n After Groen and Welshans went back-to-back in the second, the Explorers tacked on three more in the fifth when Szestowicki doubled home a pair and Groen hit an RBI single, giving him his 60th RBI of the season.<\/p>\n Manhattan got on the board with four runs between the sixth and seventh, but La Salle responded with three more in the bottom of the seventh to blow the game open. Jackson Peper<\/a> hit an RBI single to get things started, Groen scored on a wild pitch, and then Peper scored when Austin Rhue<\/a> worked a bases-loaded walk.<\/p>\n Manhattan failed to record an out in the bottom of the eighth, as Daniel Perez<\/a> opened the frame with a double, next batter Swain was hit by a pitch and stole second, and then third batter Amecangelo hit the walk off single.<\/p>\n With a designated pitch count bullpen day, La Salle starter Dante Edwardi<\/a> worked three scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and striking out two to earn the win. Chase Forester<\/a> relieved him and went two scoreless, hitless frames with a strikeout. Dylan Duke<\/a> pitched a scoreless top of the eighth with a strikeout.<\/p>\n The Explorers’ season-long eight-game homestand continues this weekend as the team welcomes in Atlantic 10-leading Saint Joseph’s to Hank DeVincent Field. The series starts Friday afternoon at 3:00 pm.
