NEW YORK (PIX11) \u2014 A man was punched in the face multiple times by a uniformed NYPD officer during an arrest in the Bronx over the weekend.<\/p>\n
The incident took place on Saturday on Brook Avenue in front of P.S.\/I.S. 224 and the Academy of Applied Mathematics and Technology MS343, according to the person who shot the video, which was posted on social media<\/a>.<\/p>\n More Local News <\/a><\/p>\n The video shows multiple officers restraining a man wearing a backpack as one cop swings his fist at the man\u2019s head multiple times.<\/p>\n A witness says, \u201cHey, hey, hey! Don\u2019t hit him!\u201d<\/p>\n The cops repeatedly direct the restrained man to put his hands behind his back, the video shows.<\/p>\n \u201cPut your [expletive] hands behind your back!\u201d one of the officers yells.<\/p>\n Another man was detained against a wall as three officers took the restrained man to the ground.<\/p>\n Discover more local reporting on our homepage <\/a><\/p>\n Officials said four people were seen with open alcoholic containers in front of the school. An NYPD spokesperson claims the two men involved resisted arrest after refusing to identify themselves.<\/p>\n A taser was deployed on one of the men before the video was recorded, according to police.<\/p>\n Both were charged with resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration, public consumption and disorderly conduct.<\/p>\n The incident happened just days after two NYPD detectives were placed on modified duty for beating a man in a Brooklyn liquor store<\/a> during an arrest that turned out to be a case of mistaken identity.<\/p>\n As a result, at least six members of the associated Narcotics Squad were transferred, disbanding that team within the unit<\/a>, according to law enforcement sources.<\/p>\n Spencer Gustafson is a digital content producer from Long Island who has covered New York state and city news since 2023.
