The US Federal Aviation Administration said on Tuesday it was investigating a close call \u200bat New York\u2019s John F Kennedy international airport \u200cbetween two passenger jets.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe crew of Republic Airways Flight 4464 performed a go-around at John F. Kennedy International Airport after missing the \u200bintended approach path and flying too close to \u200bJazz Aviation Flight 554, which was cleared to \u2060land on a parallel runway. Both flight crews responded \u200bto onboard alerts,\u201d the FAA said in a statement about \u200bthe Monday incident.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe FAA is investigating the event,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n
The two planes came within 350ft (107 meters) vertically and 0.62 miles horizontally at their closest \u200bpoints, according to flight-tracking service Flightradar24.<\/p>\n
The two planes went around \u200band landed without incident, according to an ABC News affiliate. In \u200cthe \u2060air traffic control audio, anti-collision alarms were heard blaring in the tower and cockpit, the ABC affiliate reported.<\/p>\n
Controllers told pilots in both planes to take evasive actions and the \u200binitial landing \u200bwas aborted \u2060before the jets eventually made safe landings, according to the report.<\/p>\n
The pilots told the controllers \u200bthey were responding to the RA alarm, \u200bor \u201cresolution \u2060advisories\u201d, which is the most serious of the anti-collision warnings pilots can get, the report added.<\/p>\n
