NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — The NYPD released new images Wednesday of suspects they’re searching for in connection with the “ring of fire” street takeover in Queens last weekend.<\/p>\n

The NYPD is after eight suspects \u2014 seven males and one female \u2014 for reckless endangerment. Police said six of them were doing donuts in the intersection and that two jumped on a marked NYPD vehicle as cops responded to Saturday’s wild meetup on the border of Maspeth and Middle Village.<\/p>\n

Video shows a mob of about 100 people at 69th Street and Elliott Avenue around 2 a.m. Saturday. Drivers can be seen doing donuts in a ring of fire at the intersection, between two gas stations.<\/p>\n

Council Member Phil Wong had a meeting Tuesday with NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch. He said the department has seized two vehicles in the case and is committed to putting additional officers in the area.<\/p>\n

“We need more police officers on the streets, period. Not just reactive policing, but proactive enforcement to stop these car meetups before they spiral out of control,” Wong said in a statement.<\/p>\n

He said the meetups are part of larger quality-of-life issues in his district, which he said is also plagued by car and catalytic converter thefts, scams targeting seniors and loud music at night.<\/p>\n
