The gathering takes place during Liverpool\u2019s 2028 celebrations, marking 20 years since the city was named European Capital of Culture.<\/p>\n

Cunard is planning a rare moment in its modern history by assembling all four ships in its fleet in Liverpool, England.<\/p>\n

On May 16, 2028,\u00a0Queen Mary 2, Queen Elizabeth, Queen Victoria,\u00a0and\u00a0Queen Anne\u00a0are scheduled to gather on the River Mersey, marking the first time the cruise line\u2019s four-ship fleet has come together in one place.<\/p>\n

The event will take place in Liverpool, where Cunard was founded in 1840, and which the company considers its spiritual home.<\/p>\n

\u201cBringing our four Queens together on the Mersey for the first time will be a rare and incredibly special moment for Cunard,\u201d\u00a0said Katie McAlister, president of Cunard.\u00a0\u201cLiverpool is where our story began, and returning with the full fleet is a powerful celebration of that bond.\u201d<\/p>\n

The occasion follows a similar gathering in 2015 when\u00a0Queen Mary 2, Queen Elizabeth,\u00a0and\u00a0Queen Victoria\u00a0met on the Mersey to mark Cunard\u2019s 175th\u00a0anniversary. This new assembly will be the first since the addition of\u00a0Queen Anne<\/a>\u00a0in May 2024.<\/p>\n

The gathering will coincide with celebrations marking 20 years since Liverpool was named European Capital of Culture.<\/p>\n

\u201cWelcoming the four Cunard Queens at the same time will be an extraordinary occasion for our city, our residents, and our visitors,\u201d\u00a0said Liam Robinson, leader of Liverpool City Council.\u00a0\u201cWe are incredibly proud of our rich maritime heritage, and this promises to be a really special moment here in Liverpool.\u201d<\/p>\n

City officials are planning a year-long calendar of cultural and sporting events in 2028, and the arrival of the Cunard fleet is expected to be one of the centerpiece maritime moments.<\/p>\n

In addition to the cultural anniversary celebrations, Liverpool is also scheduled to host matches during the UEFA Euro 2028 football tournament.<\/p>\n

Voyages to the Mersey Gathering<\/p>\n

Cunard plans to structure several sailings in 2028 so that each ship in the fleet arrives in Liverpool as part of the Four Queens event.<\/p>\n

Queen Mary 2, which is currently enjoying its\u00a0first-ever season in the Caribbean<\/a>, will make a transatlantic crossing from New York to Liverpool with up to 2,691 guests, arriving in the city on May 16.<\/p>\n

The voyage will be the ship\u2019s first transatlantic sailing directly from New York to Liverpool.<\/p>\n

The arrival will also mark Cunard\u2019s first eastbound transatlantic arrival from New York to Liverpool in more than six decades. The last such arrival occurred on November 18, 1966, when RMS\u00a0Sylvania\u00a0berthed at Princes Landing Stage.<\/p>\n

After the Liverpool event,\u00a0Queen Mary 2\u00a0is expected to continue with its scheduled transatlantic crossings along with voyages to Canada and New England and longer Caribbean sailings.<\/p>\n

Queen Anne, the newest vessel in Cunard\u2019s fleet that carries 2,996 passengers, will begin its 2028 season sailing itineraries in Scandinavia and Northern Europe. The ship will include an overnight call in Liverpool timed with the Four Queens gathering.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile,\u00a0Queen Elizabeth, which is soon launching its\u00a0Alaska season from Seattle<\/a>, will sail from Southampton, England, to Le Havre, France, with its 2,081 guests before heading toward Liverpool for the gathering.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Queen Victoria\u00a0will arrive following a cruise around the British Isles with up to 2,061 passengers that includes calls in Scotland, Ireland, Northern Ireland, and Wales.<\/p>\n

Cunard says additional details about the 2028 voyages connected to the event will be announced later.<\/p>\n
