Jelly Roll<\/a>, whose real name is Jason DeFord, recently admitted that during the holidays, he \u201cwent off the rails\u201d when it came to his weight loss<\/a> journey, but now he\u2019s back on track as he plans to run the New York City marathon this November.<\/p>\n

The \u201cSomebody Save Me\u201d singer, 41, admitted in an April 17 video<\/a> that after he hit one of his main goals, which was to be on the cover of Men\u2019s Health, he wanted to \u201cenjoy the holidays.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI ate a big Thanksgiving meal, and I had a big birthday meal,\u201d continued Jelly Roll, who was born on December 4.<\/p>\n

He added that right before Christmas, he broke his collarbone.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat set me down where I had to quit running, quit walking, quit exercising for some extended period of time,\u201d the Star Search judge explained, adding that \u201cto some degree, I lost my way.\u201d<\/p>\n

All of that combined led Jelly Roll to put off checking in on his weight.<\/p>\n

\u201cI haven\u2019t weighed in. I\u2019ve been avoiding the scale,\u201d he shared. \u201cI\u2019m afraid to see what the scale is going to say from what my actual goal is.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, the \u201cSon of a Sinner\u201d artist already has a new goal in mind that the New York City marathon will play a part in helping him achieve.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to get these last 40 or 50 pounds off, and then I eventually want to cut my skin,\u201d Jelly Roll said in the video. \u201cI eventually want to be on the cover of something crazy like GQ or Rolling Stone or Vanity Fair or Forbes or Time with my shirt off.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Grammy winner has been open about his weight loss journey since the start and in December 2025, he told Joe Rogan during an episode of his eponymous podcast<\/a> that it was around his 39th birthday that he realized he had to make a change<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought about it around my birthday \u2019cause I knew my next [birthday] was 40,\u201d Jelly Roll said during the December 10, 2025 episode. \u201cI was like \u2018I don\u2019t think I\u2019ve ever met a 500-pound 40-year-old.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Since 2022, Jelly Roll has dropped more than 200 pounds<\/a>.<\/p>\n
