{"id":206794,"date":"2026-04-23T01:34:15","date_gmt":"2026-04-23T01:34:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/206794\/"},"modified":"2026-04-23T01:34:15","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T01:34:15","slug":"i-never-used-to-be-this-spacey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/206794\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;I never used to be this spacey&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It\u2019s a case for the \u201chigh\u201d court.<\/p>\n<p>A former New York druggie is suing Amazon over brain cells he killed <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/03\/26\/us-news\/nassau-county-restricts-whip-its-bans-sale-of-kratom-in-back-to-back-crackdowns-on-teen-drug-trends\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">doing \u201cwhip-its<\/a>\u201d for years \u2014 claiming the company knew the nitrous oxide canisters it sold him weren\u2019t really for \u201cculinary\u201d use, according to a new lawsuit.<\/p>\n<p>Felix Krouse, 33, of Buffalo,\u00a0sucked down the so-called \u201claughing gas\u201d to get high for nearly three years and now suffers from neurological damage, memory loss and tremors, according to the\u00a0lawsuit, filed in Seattle Federal Court last week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI never used to be this spacey,\u201d Krouse, who\u2019s now unemployed,\u00a0told The Post Wednesday. \u201cIt\u2019s harder to perform tasks;\u00a0 I\u2019ll go downstairs to get something and forget why I went down there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u201cI want Amazon held accountable. I want the book thrown at them,\u201d he fumed.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Amazon allegedly knew the cartridges of nitrous oxide known as \u201cwhip-its\u201d were used to get high, according to the suit. Obtained by NY Post<\/p>\n<p>In the lamebrain lawsuit, Krouse claims he didn\u2019t know that inhaling the gas was a health risk when he became addicted to it in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo take advantage of a legal loophole, [Amazon] claimed their products were intended for culinary use. They were not,\u201d the suit states.\u00a0 \u201c[The firm] intended their products to be inhaled by consumers for recreational purposes and marketed them accordingly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As proof, the lawsuit\u00a0points to reviews from shoppers who describe getting stoned on the colorfully packaged canisters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStuff gives me a rush of dopamine and euphoric relief as it kills my brain cells and massages the back of [my] brain,\u201d one user wrote, according to the lawsuit.<\/p>\n<p>Another recommended inhaling the gas with balloons, adding, \u201cThis stuff is really clean.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Amazon.com website gave no hint that the cartridges posed a health risk and passed them off as safe and legal, the suit states. The gas is sometimes used by chefs to create whipped cream and foams for fancy, high-end dishes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s no age limit or limit on how many you can buy. It\u2019s so scummy. They know this is a problem and they\u2019re not doing anything about it, \u201d Krouse said.<\/p>\n<p>Amazon allegedly \u201cencouraged consumers to ingest massive and dangerous doses\u201d of the gas, the suit states.<\/p>\n<p>Krouse\u2019s buying habits should have been flagged by Amazon because it was clear he wasn\u2019t using the cartridges for culinary purposes, and was likely suffering from addiction, the lawsuit states.<\/p>\n<p>Amazon, however, made no effort to limit his purchases or take any action to intervene, according to the lawsuit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAmazon actually still recommends [whip-its] to me all the time. I go online to get bedsheets or something \u2014 and it\u2019s triggering,\u201d said Krause, who stopped using the drug in January 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Nitrous oxide canisters sold on Amazon.com Obtained by NY Post<\/p>\n<p>The firm \u201cknew or should have known that there was a substantial likelihood that consumers who purchased their products, like Plaintiff, would use those products recreationally by inhaling nitrous oxide and that doing so would put them at significant risk of suffering injuries such as those detailed above,\u201d the lawsuit states.<\/p>\n<p>Krouse now seeks an unspecified amount of cash for injuries, which also include\u00a0impaired balance, memory loss and nerve-related pain.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t care if I get any money. I don\u2019t want anybody else to go through this,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit also names nitrous oxide canister sellers Galaxy Gas, Happy Supply,\u00a0and Xuzhou Basic Industry as defendants along with<a href=\"http:\/\/amazon.com?tag=nypost-20&amp;asc_refurl=https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/04\/22\/us-news\/former-ny-druggie-sues-amazon-over-brain-cells-he-lost-doing-whip-its-sold-by-the-site-i-never-used-to-be-this-spacey\/&amp;asc_source=web\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"> Amazon.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Amazon didn\u2019t return a request for comment from The Post Wednesday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"It\u2019s a case for the \u201chigh\u201d court.
