SYOSSET, New York (WABC) — An investigation is underway Thursday morning in Syosset after suspicious chemicals were discovered inside a home.<\/p>\n

The Syosset Bomb Squad was called to the scene on Patricia Lane after a variety of chemicals were found inside the house.<\/p>\n

Nassau County police arrived around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, and Patricia Lane was shut down for most of the afternoon as a precaution.<\/p>\n

Video from the scene shows several unknown chemicals removed from the home and lined up on the lawn.<\/p>\n

Officials believed the materials could be dangerous, prompting a response from the bomb squad in the residential neighborhood.<\/p>\n

Police say the chemicals were considered too hazardous to transport, so they were destroyed on site.<\/p>\n

Neighbors reported hearing a loud noise during the process and said their homes shook.<\/p>\n

Thursday morning, police say one resident is being held for questioning. No charges have been announced as Nassau County police continue their investigation.<\/p>\n

Authorities expect to provide an update later Thursday.<\/p>\n
