An accused hit-and-run SUV driver has been arrested for fatally striking a 20-year-old Bronx man<\/a> who was on his way to the gym when he was run just down the block from his home five months ago, police said Thursday.<\/p>\n

Enisman Jalloh, 22, is charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident and tampering with evidence in the death of Brandon Jose De La Cruz.<\/p>\n

After the crash, Jalloh got rid of his SUV in an attempt to throw police off his trail, police sources said.<\/p>\n

The victim was crossing the Cross Bronx Expressway Service Road<\/a> near Ellis Ave. when he was struck about 6 p.m. Nov. 30, police said.<\/p>\n

Jalloh, who was in the westbound lane, allegedly slammed his SUV into De La Cruz and drove off. Medics rushed De La Cruz to Jacobi Medical Center<\/a>, where he died.<\/p>\n

The victim was on his way to the gym when he was struck, relatives told News 12 Bronx in November<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve been devastated because, it\u2019s been difficult. Brandon was a good kid, full of life,\u201d Rommer Jose, Brandon\u2019s uncle, told the station at a small vigil set up for the victim after the crash<\/a>.<\/p>\n

De La Cruz\u2019s outraged father, Medardo Jose, said his son was \u201ctreated like a dog\u201d by the driver.<\/p>\n

After a prolonged investigation, cops zeroed in on Jalloh, who has previously been arrested on a reckless driving and menacing case in 2024, officials said.<\/p>\n

Jalloh surrendered to police on Tuesday. He lives about a mile from the crash scene.<\/p>\n
