The CEO of branding agency Creative Velocity took part in the Peacock dating reality series, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.essence.com\/lifestyle\/queens-court\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Queen\u2019s Court,<\/a> ending his time on the show engaged to former Basketball Wives star Evelyn Lozada. <\/p>\n<p>But that wasn\u2019t meant to be. What was, was meeting and falling in love with Atlanta-based personal injury attorney Daedra Fenwick. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI saw her on a conference flyer. Our photos were side by side, and something about her made me pause,\u201d LaVon recalls. \u201cI didn\u2019t know her, hadn\u2019t met her, but I kept going back to that image. There was something in her eyes that stayed with me.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>While the two were set to speak at the same event, they wouldn\u2019t meet. But the stars would still align, because months later, he saw a video of her vacationing in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.essence.com\/lifestyle\/travel\/bahamas-people-to-people-program\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bahamas<\/a> on Instagram and realized, remarkably, they\u2019d been following each other for years. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cLaVon recognized the resort, saw that I posted it, and did something that he never does, and that is send me a message,\u201d says Daedra. \u201cFrom there, we started messaging back and forth, and he asked if it was okay to call me. I said yes, and we spent hours talking until the sun came up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> That was just the beginning for the two. Upon her return to Atlanta, they were quickly two peas in a pod. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe next day, when I got back to Atlanta, we had our first date, and we\u2019ve been together ever since,\u201d she says. \u201cI knew he was the one when we saw each other five times in that first week. It was clear from the very beginning that this was special.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Very special. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI knew I had found my wife in the way everything aligned without effort. The conversations, the vulnerability, the transparency, the peace, and the way she saw me clearly from the beginning in a way that no one ever has,\u201d LaVon shares. \u201cIt didn\u2019t feel new; it felt like I had finally arrived somewhere I was always meant to be.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Those experiences culminated in the pair falling in love, getting engaged, and tying the knot on April 11 in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.essence.com\/gallery\/bridal-bliss-nyasia-and-noah\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">New Orleans<\/a>. A not-too-far destination wedding. From the photos and their account of the day, it was magical\u2014and grand, with help from ballerinas and a Second Line to close out the night. We spoke with the newlyweds about the best day of their lives, their favorite moments, and why the Big Easy was the perfect place to go all out in the name of love. <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/REEM-93-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"Bridal Bliss: Inside Former \u2018Queen\u2019s Court\u2019 Star LaVon Lewis\u2019s Joy-Filled \u2018I Do\u2019 With Daedrea Fenwick In New Orleans\" width=\"400\" height=\"266\"\/>REEM Photography<\/p>\n<p>ESSENCE: How did you choose your venue and theme?<\/p>\n<p>Daedra Fenwick: We wanted a destination wedding that still felt close enough for everyone to truly show up and experience it with us. New Orleans gave us that balance effortlessly. The culture, the food, the energy\u2026 it already feels like a celebration before you even begin planning.<\/p>\n<p>For the welcome party, we chose Vue Orleans, sitting atop the Four Seasons New Orleans. We reserved the 1st-floor experience, the 33rd-floor indoor observatory, and the 34th-floor open-air rooftop deck. Each level created a different mood. Guests moved through the night, taking in new views, new conversations, new energy. It felt layered and intentional, like the night was unfolding in chapters.<\/p>\n<p>For our ceremony and reception, we chose The MISI. The rooftop overlooks downtown and the Mississippi River, giving us a breathtaking backdrop for the ceremony. As the evening transitioned, we moved inside for the reception, where the space felt modern, clean, and expansive, with balconies framing the city from every angle.<\/p>\n<p>What were your favorite moments from the day?<\/p>\n<p>LaVon: My favorite moment was seeing her for the first time. I had never seen her dress, so when she walked out, and we locked eyes, everything slowed down. It hit me all at once, and I couldn\u2019t hold it together. That moment brought me to tears.<\/p>\n<p>Another moment that meant everything to me was a surprise I\u2019ve been working on for four months. I brought out <a href=\"https:\/\/www.essence.com\/lifestyle\/tamika-scott-cookbook\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tamika Scott from Xscape<\/a>, one of Dae\u2019s favorite groups. She performed a melody of songs for her, and watching Dae\u2019s reaction made all the planning and coordination worth it.<\/p>\n<p>Most people know Dae as an incredible attorney, but what they may not know is how deep her love for music runs. She even created a game called Kulture Karaoke that made its way into major retailers. It was a piece of her world, brought into the wedding at that moment.<\/p>\n<p>Seeing how much it touched her\u2026that\u2019s what stayed with me. I didn\u2019t just want to give her a surprise; I wanted to create a memory she would feel forever.<\/p>\n<p>Daedrea: My favorite memory was definitely walking down the aisle and seeing LaVon waiting for me. The moment our eyes met, everything else faded. It was like the entire day led up to that exact second.<\/p>\n<p>I also loved getting dressed with my mom, mother-in-law, sisters, and friends. We didn\u2019t have a traditional bridal party, but I was still able to create those memories with them. There was so much laughter and joy in that space, and it made the entire day feel calm and stress-free.<\/p>\n<p>What are you looking forward to most about married life?<\/p>\n<p>LaVon: I\u2019ve never met someone where, from day one, I felt completely safe. That\u2019s something men don\u2019t talk about enough. Our hearts have to feel safe in order to commit on this level. Daedrea is that for me. She\u2019s my safe space, the person I can build with, think with, and just be with.<\/p>\n<p>Our combined family brings me a level of peace and joy I didn\u2019t even know I was missing. She\u2019s the type of woman I always wanted and needed, but didn\u2019t know existed. I\u2019m in awe of her daily. Her character, her perspective, the way she moves through life, it\u2019s unmatched.<\/p>\n<p>And for me, being an on-the-go business owner, she doesn\u2019t just understand it\u2026 she meets me there. She gets me, she gets it, and she makes me better. I have a true partner in every sense, and that\u2019s something I\u2019ve always wanted.<\/p>\n<p>Daedrea: I\u2019m looking forward to everything that comes with building our life together, not just the big moments, but the everyday ones too. Having a partner I respect, trust, and who is genuinely my best friend makes me excited for what\u2019s ahead.<\/p>\n<p>What makes it even more meaningful is how naturally we align. On paper, our worlds can look completely different, but in reality, we share the same mindset, the same drive, and the same commitment to God.
