As exclusively shared with QNS, Assemblymember Jenifer Rajkumar is leading a South Queens relief effort for a family recently affected by a Woodhaven<\/a> house fire on Monday, April 20, mobilizing community support and resources to help them rebuild.<\/p>\n

To further aid the initiative, Daniel Lowy, the CEO and Principal of EMU Health<\/a>, donated $5,000 to support the victims.\n<\/p>\n

The outreach follows a fire that broke out at 90-21 76th St. in Woodhaven this week, displacing two families \u2014 five adults and five children, as described in Rajkumar\u2019s statement released on Tuesday, April 21.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese are our neighbors, and they have our full support as they begin to recover,\u201d Rajkumar said in Tuesday\u2019s statement. \u201cI have been in close contact with the Red Cross and FDNY to ensure that every resident affected receives the care and resources they need during this difficult time.<\/p>\n

One of the families includes a pregnant mother, whose name was not disclosed, along with three children \u2014 ages 12, 4 and 1.\n<\/p>\n

As confirmed in the exclusive, Rajkumar has been working directly with the family and coordinating a donation drive, bringing together neighbors, local organizations and community leaders.

\u201cWhen something like this happens, leadership matters. Assemblymember Rajkumar didn\u2019t wait\u2014she stepped in, organized support, and made sure this family wasn\u2019t alone,\u201d said Lowy. \u201cI\u2019m proud to contribute $5,000 to help them rebuild, and I hope others will join her in supporting this effort.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI am deeply grateful to Daniel Lowy for his generosity and leadership. This is what community is all about\u2014people stepping up for one another in times of need,\u201d Rajkumar said. \u201cWe will continue working to make sure this family has the support they need to recover and rebuild.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rajkumar, who represents the neighborhoods of Ridgewood<\/a>,\u00a0Glendale<\/a>,\u00a0Woodhaven,\u00a0Richmond Hill<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Ozone Park<\/a>, is calling on the community to continue contributing essential items, including clothing, food, and children\u2019s supplies.<\/p>\n

FDNY confirmed that the department received a call at approximately 2:24 a.m. on the day of the incident. In addition, a second-floor fire occurred, and 21 units with 79 fire and EMS personnel responded. No injuries were reported.<\/p>\n

Regarding the fire, the Red Cross confirmed the registration of two households totaling \u201c10 individuals,\u201d including five adults and five children.
