This signature event brings together families, schools, and community members for a morning of fun, movement, and celebration of inclusion.<\/p>\n<p>We are proud to welcome Councilmember Shanel Thomas-Henry as this year\u2019s Grand Marshal, kicking off a celebration of inclusion and community across Queens. Participants of all ages and abilities are encouraged to walk, run, or roll along a vibrant course filled with music, laughter, and bursts of colorful powder, creating a unique and energetic experience for everyone involved.<\/p>\n<p>The event begins with a morning warm-up led by the GYMGUYZ. The Kids Fun Run will then begin at 8:30 AM for children ages 12 and under, giving younger participants a fun and exciting start to the morning. Kids will also enjoy coloring books and pages during the event. The main 5K race begins at 9:00 AM, with registration and check-in opening at 8:00 AM. Awards and medals will be presented to the top finishers in each age group.<\/p>\n<p>Adding to the excitement, the event will feature a special performance by the Queensboro Dance Festival, celebrating the vibrant cultural diversity of Queens. Following the performance, Karesia Batan will lead participants in a fun and engaging dance session to keep the energy going throughout the morning.<\/p>\n<p>Footsteps for Progress Color Bash 5K is more than just a race\u2014it\u2019s an opportunity for the community to come together in support of QCP\u2019s mission to empower people with developmental disabilities to live their best lives. By participating, attendees help raise awareness and funds for QCP\u2019s programs, which provide critical services, vocational opportunities, and community supports for the 1,200 children and adults served by the organization.<\/p>\n<p>Registration is open to the public, and participants are encouraged to form teams, bring friends and family, and experience a 5K that combines fitness, fun, and community impact. Whether participants choose to run, walk, or simply enjoy the colorful atmosphere along the course, the event promises a morning full of energy and celebration.<\/p>\n<p>The cost to register is $40.00 and includes a performance tee, finisher medal, and access to a festive finish line celebration with snacks and drinks before and after the race. Food and refreshments for the event are generously provided by Stop &amp; Shop, Dunkin\u2019 Donuts, Driscoll, and Frito-Lay.
