A wigmaker who admitted to fatally mowing down a Brooklyn mom and her two daughters will stand trial in a wrongful death lawsuit from the victims\u2019 family \u2014 after a judge on Thursday rejected her long-shot bid to skirt responsibility<\/a> for the crash.<\/p>\n

Miriam Yarimi, 33, was found liable in the civil case by Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Steven Mostofsky for the 2025 killings of Natasha Saada<\/a>, 32, and her daughters, Diana and Deborah \u2014 ages eight and five \u2014 clearing the way for a jury to determine the money damages she must pay the family. <\/p>\n

Mostofsky delivered his ruling during a hearing that came weeks after Yarimi filed a handwritten letter to the judge claiming a \u201cmedical emergency\u201d caused her to lose consciousness for five seconds, sparking the deadly collision.<\/p>\n

\u201cTherefore, I am not liable for this accident,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n

Her lawyer, Laurence McDonnell, argued in court Thursday that his client also shouldn\u2019t be held liable because she only pleaded guilty in a criminal case<\/a> to manslaughter, and not to charges tied to bad driving.<\/p>\n

Neither Yarimi \u2014 who is currently serving a 3- to 9-year prison sentence \u2014 nor the surviving victim family members were present in the courtroom.<\/p>\n

Saada family lawyer, Herschel Kulefesky, slammed Yarimi\u2019s side\u2019s arguments fighting liability, on the grounds that her 2025 guilty plea in the criminal case forced her to face the music in the civil case.<\/p>\n

Yarimi now blames a \u201cmedical emergency\u201d for the fatal March 29, 2025, wreck. Obtained by NY Post<\/p>\n

The wigmaker told first responders she was \u201cpossessed\u201d and \u201chad the devil in me.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe case law is clear,\u201d Kulefesky told the judge. \u201cYou can\u2019t change your story. If you plead guilty, that\u2019s it.\u201d<\/p>\n

McDonnell acknowledged Yarimi had pleaded guilty to manslaughter, but said \u201cthe rest of the charges were dropped by the state.<\/p>\n

\u201cTherefore, there\u2019s been no plea to negligent or intentional conduct as far as operation of the motor vehicle.\u201d<\/p>\n

Outside of court, Kulefesky said the Saada family were livid by Yarimi\u2019s attempts to duck accountability.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe family and everyone who saw that statement was outraged,\u201d Kulefesky said.<\/p>\n

The March 29, 2025, horror unfolded after Yarimi sped in her Audi A4 along Ocean Parkway at 70 mph before hitting an Uber, flipping her car, and careening into the Saadas as they were leaving Shabbat services.<\/p>\n

Saada\u2019s 4-year-old son Philip survived the ordeal but was seriously injured.<\/p>\n

At the scene, Yarimi unleashed a hateful tirade on first responders as she claimed she was \u201cpossessed\u201d and had \u201cthe devil in me,\u201d officials claimed.<\/p>\n

She also had a dubious driving record in her Audi that sported the plate \u201cWIGM8KER\u201d \u2014 amassing 93 traffic violations and driving with a suspended license the day of the crash. <\/p>\n
