A man has been charged after officials say a dispute over a French bulldog urinating on a lawn resulted in three people stabbed in Queens on Thursday.<\/p>\n
The dog owners, a 39-year-old man and a woman, were stabbed by a resident of the home on 229th Street, police say.<\/p>\n
The 34-year-old suspect, Hakeem Alexander, is in custody and has been charged with three counts of assault.<\/p>\n
Surveillance video taken just before 11 a.m. shows a man and a woman walking their French bulldog on 229th Street near 141st Avenue. The small dog appears to urinate in a patch of grass outside of their next-door neighbor’s home, prompting a response from two men inside, who then appear to relieve themselves on the lawn next door.<\/p>\n
That’s when things turned violent and a melee ensued between the neighbors.<\/p>\n
Police say the 34-year-old stabbed the 39-year-old woman in the hand and the 39-year-old man in the back. The suspect’s 62-year-old father also got involved and was slashed in the hand.<\/p>\n
All three went to Jamaica Hospital, and are in stable condition.<\/p>\n
“It’s really senseless to get violent and go to that extreme over something like that,” said neighbor Bobby Sauro.<\/p>\n
Police bagged up evidence later in the afternoon and a knife was recovered at the scene.<\/p>\n
