Former pageant queen Carolina Flores G\u00f3mez was murdered in Mexico last week, with her mother-in-law now under investigation for the slaying.<\/p>\n
The 27-year-old \u2014 who in 2017 held the title Miss Teen Universe Baja California \u2014 was already dead by the time paramedics responded to an emergency call<\/a> at an apartment in Mexico City\u2019s Polanco neighborhood on April 15, according to a translated Univision report.<\/p>\n G\u00f3mez had been shot in the head, and authorities promptly treated the case as a homicide.<\/p>\n Her husband, Alejandro, and his mother, Erika Mar\u00eda, were both reportedly present at the time of the shooting, which the former allegedly blamed on the latter.<\/p>\n It\u2019s unclear what preceded the shooting and whether G\u00f3mez and her mother-in-law had a contentious relationship leading up to her death.<\/p>\n A translated report from Indigo says G\u00f3mez\u2019s husband \u2014 who the outlet identifies as her boyfriend \u2014 is also suspected in the killing<\/a>.<\/p>\n Reporter Antonio Nieto tweeted that 12 shots were fired<\/a>, but no one investigated \u201cuntil the next day\u201d on April 16 \u2014 and he identified Erika Mar\u00eda as a candidate for local office in the Ensenada municipality.<\/p>\n Nieto demanded #JusticeForCaro<\/a> as he called on the Fiscal\u00eda CDMX \u2014 the Office of the Attorney General of Mexico City \u2014 to clear up confounding details of yet \u201canother #femicide.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cWhy did no one hear the gunshots in an apartment building?\u201d he wrote. \u201cWhy did the experts only show up the next day?
