John Cameron Mitchell<\/a>, currently starring in the title role of Broadway’s\u00a0Oh, Mary!<\/a> through\u00a0April 26, will offer an evening at New York’s The Town Hall this summer.<\/p>\n

John Cameron Mitchell & Friends\u00a0will play the famed Manhattan venue June 26 at 7 PM, produced by ArKtype\/Thomas O. Kriegsmann. The Pride concert will feature special guests to be announced.<\/p>\n

Mitchell will also be joined by\u00a0musical director\u00a0Justin Craig,
\nkeyboardist Matthew Katz-Bohen, and\u00a0vocalist Shannon Conley with lighting design by Jojo Franjoine and visuals
\nby Michael Zumbrun.<\/p>\n

The evening of songs and stories will celebrate\u00a025 years
\nof Hedwig and the Angry Inch<\/a>, 20 years of Shortbus,
\n deep cuts from David Bowie<\/a>, and “the boundless and unsinkable
\nimagination of queer counter-culture,” according to press notes.<\/p>\n

Mitchell wrote, directed, and starred in the musical and\u00a0film Hedwig and the Angry Inch,
\nfor which he won two Tony Awards, Best Director at the 2001 Sundance
\nFilm Festival, and a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor. He directed
\n the films Shortbus (2006); Rabbit Hole (2010, Best Actress Oscar nomination for Nicole Kidman<\/a>); and How to Talk to Girls at Parties (2017) starring Kidman and Elle Fanning<\/a>. On Broadway, he\u2019s also starred in The Secret Garden<\/a>, Big River<\/a>, and Six Degrees of Separation. His TV credits include\u00a0Girls, Shrill, The Good Fight, The Sandman, Yellowjackets, City on Fire, and Joe vs
\nCarole.\u00a0His fictional podcast series are Anthem: Homunculus, starring Glenn Close<\/a> and Cynthia Erivo<\/a>; and Cancellation Island,
\nstarring Holly Hunter<\/a>. He is developing a play about anti-Nazi artist
\nClaude Cahun, feature films based on the lives of Allen Ginsberg and
\nAIDS activist Peter Staley, and a memoir entitled A Heart Held Outside the Body.<\/p>\n
