The organization, which already handles production permitting in other areas of Los Angeles County, announced a new partnership Friday with <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/manhattan-beach\/\" id=\"auto-tag_manhattan-beach\" data-tag=\"manhattan-beach\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Manhattan Beach<\/a> to handle the city\u2019s film-permitting process.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe partnership is temporary \u2014 for now. As part of a one-year pilot program, FilmLA will serve as the centralized coordinator of film permits and related services for the city starting May 1. That will help streamline Manhattan Beach\u2019s permitting process with permitting for the 16 other jurisdictions FilmLA covers, making things a little easier on local productions.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cWe\u2019re thrilled to partner with FilmLA to streamline the permitting process here in Manhattan Beach,\u201d Manhattan Beach Mayor David Lesser said in a statement. \u201cFilmLA\u2019s long-standing experience supporting productions across the region, combined with its expertise in multi-jurisdictional permit coordination and proactive community relations, makes them an ideal partner for our city.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tRELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2026\/01\/los-angeles-film-tv-on-location-production-2025-q4-filmla-1236684296\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Los Angeles On-Location Production Down 16.1% In 2025, But California\u2019s Revamped Tax Incentive Helps Fuel Small Growth In Q4, FilmLA Says<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tPer FilmLA, the tony surfside city recently adopted more film-friendly policies by reducing some of its filming-related fees and revising filming policies to more closely align with the California Film Commission\u2019s Model Film Ordinance. The city\u2019s departments will retain their roles as reviewers and approvers in the permit process when the deal kicks in next month.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tSituated between El Segundo and Hermosa Beach and home to about 35,500 residents, Manhattan Beach boasts such sites as its century-old pier, walking and biking path called the Strand, Sand Dune Park and a walkable downtown featuring boutiques and eateries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cThis partnership was a natural fit given our long history of coordinating permits for Los Angeles County beaches and coastal jurisdictions throughout the region,\u201d FilmLA CEO, Denise Gutches said in a statement. \u201cWe look forward to working with the city to make filming more straightforward and accessible for productions of all sizes and are excited to highlight Manhattan Beach as a prime filming location.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tErik Pedersen contributed to this report.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"FilmLA is expanding its purview.
