{"id":209169,"date":"2026-04-25T02:39:07","date_gmt":"2026-04-25T02:39:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/209169\/"},"modified":"2026-04-25T02:39:07","modified_gmt":"2026-04-25T02:39:07","slug":"news-12-bronx-video-released-of-fatal-officer-involved-shooting-of-parolee-armed-with-pistol-shaped-lighter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/209169\/","title":{"rendered":"News 12 | Bronx | Video Released Of Fatal Officer Involved Shooting Of Parolee Armed With Pistol Shaped Lighter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">The NYPD released bodycam footage capturing the <a data-rich-text-hyperlink=\"true\" href=\"https:\/\/bronx.news12.com\/man-dead-after-police-involved-shooting-in-mott-haven\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">fatal officer-involved shooting of a parolee<\/a> armed with an \u201cimitation pistol,\u201d which turned out to be a butane lighter.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Officers arrived at the door of an apartment at 105 Willis Ave. just after 7 a.m. on April 2 to arrest 44-year-old Lucien Colon, a known Level 3 sex offender, who failed to register himself.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">The footage was captured on Detective Christopher Chin\u2019s bodycam. Chin is assigned to the Bronx Warrants Squad.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">The video first shows Colon\u2019s girlfriend letting the officers into the apartment. They ask her where Colon is and if he has a gun, before telling her to go inside a room adjacent to the front door.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">The officers proceed to open the door of the room where Colon is hiding inside the closet.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">The officers order Colon to show his hands, and he immediately says, \u201cI got a gun,\u201d and \u201cIt\u2019s not gonna happen.\u201d He repeats these statements multiple times.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Colon waves what appears to be a gun out of the closet door, which the officers order him to drop.
