{"id":209472,"date":"2026-04-25T13:34:46","date_gmt":"2026-04-25T13:34:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/209472\/"},"modified":"2026-04-25T13:34:46","modified_gmt":"2026-04-25T13:34:46","slug":"suspected-gunman-in-murder-of-15-year-old-in-queens-arrested-after-fleeing-to-jamaica-nypd-commissioner-says","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/209472\/","title":{"rendered":"Suspected gunman in murder of 15-year-old in Queens arrested after fleeing to Jamaica, NYPD commissioner says"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>New York City police have arrested the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/newyork\/news\/person-of-interest-shooting-death-teen-st-albans-queens\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">suspected gunman<\/a> in the murder of 15-year-old <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/newyork\/news\/jaden-pierre-vigil-roy-wilkins-park-st-albans-queens\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Jaden Pierre<\/a>, who was fatally shot at a park in St. Albans, Queens.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/nypdpc\/status\/2048004011433890198?s=46\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">said<\/a> 18-year-old Zahir Davis fled to Jamaica after the shooting, and that he was taken into custody Friday night when his return flight landed.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Davis, of Brooklyn, was charged with murder.<\/p>\n<p>Police named Davis a person of interest nearly a week after the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/newyork\/news\/15-year-old-boy-shot-dead-st-albans-queens-nypd\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">April 16 shooting<\/a>\u00a0on a basketball court in Roy Wilkins Park. They said he was affiliated with the BG4 gang.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from an ongoing dispute between Davis and Pierre.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Neighbors and elected officials gathered at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/newyork\/news\/jaden-pierre-vigil-roy-wilkins-park-st-albans-queens\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">a vigil for Pierre<\/a> at the park on Monday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have failed you. Your son should be home,&#8221; Public Advocate Jumaane Williams said to the slain boy&#8217;s family.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I was feeling sad for him that it happened to him and his family.
