<\/p>\n Niagara University, N.Y. –\u00a0Niagara Softball split their\u00a0doubleheader\u00a0matchup against Manhattan as they fell in game one 7-1 but took game two 14-10 at Niagara Field in Niagara\u00a0University,\u00a0N.Y.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Game One\u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Manhattan got on the board first in the fourth inning as Samantha Kelly homered to left field to take an early 1-0 lead.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n The Jaspers took the lead back in the fifth as Natalye\u00a0DeBus\u00a0flied out to center field in\u00a0a\u00a0sacrifice effort to bring Angelina Gencarelli home to put the game at 2-1.\u00a0Manhattan added two more runs in the fifth as Samantha Kelly and Brianna Estevez scored off the bat of Lainey Brown.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n To close out the\u00a0game,\u00a0the Jaspers added three runs in the\u00a0seventh\u00a0as Brown, Kendall Penny and Sophia\u00a0Kiseloski\u00a0all recorded RBIs as the Jaspers took game one 7-1.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Gianna Graber<\/a> pitched all seven innings in the circle for the Purple Eagles as she faced 35 batters as she recorded three strikeouts.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Game Two\u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Manhattan would answer back in the second as Brown homered to left field along with a\u00a0Kiseloski\u00a0single to right field to score Angelina Gencarelli to make the tied at two.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Niagara would rally back in the second as Barnett and Adriana Hills<\/a> scored off the bat from\u00a0Carmella Phelan<\/a>. Phelan would then score as Cenname singled through the left side and\u00a0round\u00a0out the inning. Marrero\u00a0doubled to right center to drive Cenname home to make the game 6-2 in favor of the Purple Eagles.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n In the third Manhattan would strike within one as\u00a0DeBus\u00a0doubled to right center to score Samantha Kelly,\u00a0Adriana Giomi scored from an\u00a0Kiseloski\u00a0single,\u00a0and Kaitlyn Moody scored from a Jamie Falotico\u00a0walk\u00a0to make the game\u00a06-5.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n The Purple and White would extend their lead in the third as Hills reached first on a throwing error from the Jaspers to allow Alessandra Carter<\/a> to score unearned. Barnett would also score off a throwing error\u00a0for Hills to score unearned to make\u00a0the\u00a0game\u00a08-5.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Manhattan would take the lead in the fourth as they scored four runs with Brown, Moody, Jamie\u00a0Falotico\u00a0and Caitlin Gaetani all recorded RBIs to move the game to 9-8 in favor of the Jaspers.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n The Purple and White would not go away in the fourth as Abigail Ras<\/a> was walked with the bases loaded to allow Cenname to score. CJ Haney<\/a> would be\u00a0walked\u00a0as well\u00a0to bring Gibbons home. To round out the inning Haney, Sophia Chemotti<\/a>\u00a0and Ras would all score off the bat of Barnett as she doubled to left center\u00a0for Niagara to take back the lead 13-9.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Manhattan’s\u00a0DeBus\u00a0would record a\u00a0one-run\u00a0homerun to move the game to 13-10.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n To close out game two Haney would double to left center as Hils scored the final run of the contest in favor of Niagara 14-10.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Ryan Hatty<\/a> started the game in the\u00a0circle\u00a0as she pitched 2.1 innings as she faced 16 batters with two strikeouts. Abbey Steen<\/a> then pitched 1.1 innings as she saw nine batters with three punchouts. Graber would pitch the final 3.1 innings and record the win for the Purple\u00a0and White as she faced 14 batters.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Niagara Notes\u00a0<\/p>\n \u2022\u00a0Niagara improves to 37-44 all-time against Manhattan\u00a0<\/p>\n \u2022 Graber is the only pitcher for the Purple and White to pitch all seven innings\u00a0<\/p>\n \u2022 Graber recorded her first collegiate win in game two\u00a0<\/p>\n \u2022 Niagara recorded a game high in runs scored in game two with 14\u00a0<\/p>\n \u2022 The Purple Eagles in game two recorded six doubles which is the most in one game this season they also stole six bases which is also a season high in one game\u00a0<\/p>\n \u2022 Barnett stole four bases in game two which is the most by a Purple Eagle in one game this season\u00a0<\/p>\n \u2022 Gibbons has reached base in 12 straight games which is her longest stretch of the season\u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Up Next\u00a0<\/p>\n Niagara is back in action on April 25th to close out the three game series with Manhattan\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
