Queens Of\u00a0The\u00a0Stone Age<\/a>\u00a0have\u00a0played live with Nick Oliveri for the first time since 2014 \u2013 check out\u00a0footage\u00a0below.<\/p>\n

Oliveri played with the band from 1998 until 2004, contributing to their classic albums \u2018Rated R<\/a>\u2019 (2000) and \u2018Songs\u00a0For\u00a0The\u00a0Deaf<\/a>\u2019 (2002), and had played with\u00a0frontman\u00a0Josh Homme<\/a>\u00a0before that in\u00a0the stoner rock group Kyuss<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He was fired from the band in\u00a02004, but\u00a0reunited with them to provide backing vocals on \u2018If I Had\u00a0A\u00a0Tail\u2019 from 2013\u2019s \u2018\u2026Like Clockwork<\/a>\u2019, and then\u00a0joined them on stage for the first time in a decade at a 2014 show in Portland<\/a>.<\/p>\n

On Friday night (April 24), he ended a 12-year wait by joining them again during a show at the Joshua Tree Retreat Center in Joshua Tree, California. Homme introduced him as \u201cone of the people that I love dearly\u201d,\u00a0and Oliveri contributed vocals to the \u2018Rated R\u2019 song \u2018Auto Pilot\u2019.<\/p>\n

When Oliveri was let go from the band, it was initially said that it was due to his aggressive treatment of the band\u2019s fans, but it was later suggested that the decision was made in connection with allegations of domestic abuse against his girlfriend.<\/p>\n

In 2022,\u00a0he opened up about leaving the band<\/a>, saying his time with the band had \u201crun its course\u201d,\u00a0but said he and Homme were \u201cstill friends\u201d.<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cWe did so much in a five-year period, in a concentrated period,\u00a0so much work, that we kind of burned out on each other. So, it is what it is, and he kind of wanted the band to go in a different direction anyway, so he\u2019s taken it there, and that\u2019s where he wants it to go, and it\u2019s great for him.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnfortunately it\u2019s one of those things where, it used to bother me a lot, but it doesn\u2019t anymore. It took some time to heal over some things, and for him too,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Oliveri released two career-spanning solo compilations in 2024<\/a>, titled \u2018N.O. Hits\u00a0At\u00a0All Vols. 8\u2019 and \u2018N.O. Hits\u00a0At\u00a0All Vols. 9\u2019.<\/p>\n
